Like what i've already said on my previous post... I just don't get it why people labels themselves. Now, I've decided to do a little research about this "not-that-interesting" topic.

Lets start off with the word EMO

emo is short for emotional...but some teens have made it into a style and a way of life. Some "Emos" imitate depression in an attempt for attention. Some just like dark stuff. But sometimes, teens who really have a serious problem with depression can be labeled "emo" and made fun of for it since "emos" are supposed to be known for exaggerating life's problems and taking things too seriously as well as being very sensitive. So my advice to you is to just make sure she's ok. It might just be her style. I have plenty of friends at school who dress in black and wear heavy make up but they aren't depressed. Emos are also stereotypes to cut themselves or use other ways of self injury. I just thought you should be aware of that. But even if she does were wrist bands and arm warmers, that doesn't mean she cuts, though it could be a sign of it. Look for things like her refusing to go swimming or wear short sleeves or shorts. You shouldn't freak out about it though. As long as you're sure she's not depressed and isn't hurting herself she should be fine.

GOTH

Goth in its simplest form, is a subculture. A group of people who feel comfortable within each others company. There is no specific thing that defines what you need to do or be to fit into the goth scene (except of course the implied black clothing). People in the goth scene all have different musical tastes, follow different religions, have different occupations, hobbies, and fashion sense.

Why do people become Goth?

Most goths become goths because they have been spurned by 'normal' society because the way they want to live their lives does not fit in with how most people are told to live theirs. Goths are free thinkers, people who do not accept the moral rules of society because they're told 'This is just how it is' or 'This is what God says!'. Rather goths tend to listen to what you have to say, and make up their own mind. This kind of free thinking and rejection of dogma earns only rejection in todays society.

However because of this rejection from 'normal' society, goths have banded together to associate with other free thinkers. This has a beneficial effect on both the individual and society as a whole. For the individual they have a sense of belonging, and friends they can associate with. For society it removes one more misfit filled with rage from society's streets.

This of course is not the case for all goths. Many goths today are goths for a variety of other reasons. They like the music, or the clubs are better, they have goth friends and joined in with them, or they just like staying up late nights and goths are the only ones awake to talk to.

PUNK

Punks general have a "Anti-government Anti- Authority" motto going. They'll sometimes wear color as long as it has some sort of band name on it. And they do dye their hair often. but so do allot of "other" types I know this because my husband considered himself "Punk" back in the day. Thankfully he's just in the "Daddy" group now. Although all the Greenday music has left a mark....

and last but not the least... PREP

ditz, bitch, slut, concieded, self-centerred, world revolves around them. generally posers go to lots of parties wear such expensive clothes as Hollister, American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, Express, Armani Exchange, and shop at Victorias Secret for bras that they dont even need because they are fucking size 'A.' Also spend way too much on makeup like Bobbi Brown when they can look just as skanky with Mabelline

And one of her pics says that she's EMO (emotional) then all the post in her blog has the word EMO on its title... Ugh... I don't have anything against those people who labels themselves... Pero, I'm just wondering kung bakit nila yun ginagawa.

I've got this from a certain website. Wala lang... Haay! I just can't really understand myself since last saturday. I also had a feeling that i'm crazy? Am I? Anyways, here some posts that i've got from a forum...

 

"The ''Emo-is-not-a-lifestyle-but-a-genre'' apology wouldnt work in the Philippines. First of all, not all people know that it's just a genre and not a lifestyle, second, because of the proliferation of ''black-shirt-black-jeans-black-chucks-buda-beads-and-silver belts'' fashion here in the country, there is already a stigma attached to it that once we see a person wearing this kind of clothing, the word ''EMO'' automatically enters our mind, so you also can't blame me, or us.

    Since most teenagers in the Philippines do not know what or who ''Emo'' is, this group of people is also known as ''Rakiztah''. There's only a difference in name but the notion is the same. And what enters our mind if we see this person out in the mall or in the streets? Of course, a stigma. And society stigmatizes them not because of what they want or what they do with their lives, it's because of how they look like. Even if a person is not an EMO but wears like one, then he/she is subject to social stigma. That website which was posted will do no good, because it is only dispersed to a few people. What about the millions of Filipino teens out there who, up to know, divide our generation between the ''gangstah'' and the ''rakiztah''?

   That's why it is futile for people to blame us for not knowing what is correct and what is not about ''Emo''. The problem lies not in political correctness or euphemisms, it's about the fashion statement that we actually do not want.

    To supplant what I said, just take a look at what most people posted. They said that ''most emos look try hard in the way they dress''. Dito palang makikita na natin that no matter how much you define the word Emo being a genre and not a lifestyle, walang magiiba. The fact will not change that Emo for the Filipino teenager, is not a specific music genre but a lifestyle. In theory, Emo apologists may be correct, but in practice, hindi. Just go to the malls or wherever, you'll see them. You'll see that no matter how much you defen thisd genre, there will always be a corresponding stigma. A stigma not towards the music but a stigma towards the thousands of misinformed people who represent it."

UGH! I really hate myself! Crush ko lang naman sya... as in... C-R-U-S-H, pero bakit feeling ko L-O-V-E ko na sya? Haay!! Buhay nga naman... Anyway... Lagi namang ganito kapag nagkaka-crush ako... Yun nga lang kung kelan nagiging crush ko na saka naman kami hindi nagiging close. S-W-E-A-R!
